Applicants please note the following
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Local 118 does not commit to referring (dispatching) applicants to work. Instead, in the event no members of IATSE are available for referral to employers, Local 118 dispatch may select any applicant for referral, provided their application is complete. As the selection is discretionary and subject to unpredictable employer requests, Local 118 does not acknowledge receipt of applications or offer estimates as to when applicants might be referred to employers. Please be patient with the process, it takes time to review applications.
Respect and Politeness
Our office has a policy against bullying and harassment. All applicants, permittees, members, and members of other locals must not engage in bullying, harassment, or shouting at any time with our office.
ACTSAFE Performing Arts Safety Awareness Course
The Performing Arts Safety Awareness course is a free course offered by ActSafe. All applicants must complete this course to work in this industry.
There are no prerequisites for our general stagehand labour (AKA: “grip”) positions beyond the Performing Arts Safety Awareness course. You are still expected to come to work ready to work, with a positive attitude, with the noted tools and PPE, be able to lift at least 50 lbs, act on instructions of leaders and coworkers, and be patient of other people.
Lateness is not tolerated
Allow additional time to get to your work. Lateness is not respected or tolerated. Consider arriving at least 15 minutes ahead of your start time, and 30 minutes for stadium calls.
